The largest copyright lobbyists shared their vision for further struggle against digital piracy

The light of the whole world and Russian copyspace gathered in St. Petersburg in order to discuss how to more effectively stifle unauthorized copying on the Internet in order to protect copyright.
Each of the participants expressed their opinion on what should be done to defeat piracy on the network:

- Alexey Pimanov, president of the Red Star media holding : “probably, it is necessary to amend this law, which will punish the final consumer of content. We believe that this is not entirely correct, but if everything proceeds as it does now, then we will have to go this way. ”

- Chris Marcic, President of the Motion Picture Association : “Many advances in copyright protection are associated with the education of the user and with the fines that are imposed on those who illegally download content. Of course, blocking sites with illegal content also works well. ”

')
- Michael Robinson, vice president of the Motion Picture Association of America: “we must make sure that illegal downloads on the Internet are inaccessible and equate to theft from the store.”

- Alexey Volin, Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation: “The habit of getting everything for free has become a threat not only to content, but also to content distributors. Industries need their “polite people” who will fight those who violate the rights of producers and content. The question of end-user liability is a question of efficiency. It is necessary to beat those who are easier to find. ”

and of course the star of Russian copyiracy
- Alexander Akopov, President of Amedia, Co-Chairman of the Association of Film and Television Producers: “Google and Yandex are the main pirate organizations today. Google - worldwide, Yandex - in Russia. If some big companies once again go away from responsibility, it will eventually fall on the end user. ”

During the conference, the Minister of Communications, Volin, voiced an interesting proposal from the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media to introduce the concept of an “unscrupulous website”, which could be completely blocked, and suggested using Colt in the fight against piracy,

Obviously, the anti-piracy law No. 187, with its complicated bureaucratic procedure, could not at least help in such a complex struggle against windmills of unauthorized copying of content.

Let me remind you that this is not all the methods that are used in the world to fight the global evil of digital piracy. There are other tougher sentences:

But will the application of all these methods be effective? Hardly. Recent research in the field of copyright and content distribution suggests otherwise. However, the consequences can be the most disastrous.

And we once again draw the attention of media companies to the fact that instead of dealing with file-sharing technologies with the adoption of incredible efforts to protect exclusive rights in the digital space (using the surveillance of users, imposing additional responsibilities on information intermediaries), corporations have to go with the times rather than whining that because of pirates business becomes unprofitable. Otherwise, money on the content on the Internet did not earn.

So colts in a holster, hands on the table, and let's proceed to the reform of copyright.
