The first stage of the Android Developers Challenge is over.

The submission of applications for the Android Developers Challenge has been closed, and Google has announced that 1788 jobs have been sent from more than 70 countries. Azhar Hashem writes :
When we announced the Android Developers Challenge in January, the developers began to send work right away, but by the end of the competition (April 14) a real flood of applications started. The work flow in the early morning hours of Tuesday exceeded 170 per hour.

Among the works provided were games, social networking applications, utilities, tools for developers, etc. At the moment, more than 100 judges, mostly from the Open Handset Alliance, choose the winners. 50 semifinalists will be presented in May. Each semifinalist will receive $ 25,000 and will pass to the second round. 10 of them will receive $ 100,000 each and 10 - $ 275,000 each.
50 prizes of $ 25,000 are equivalent to 1.25 million dollars, 10 * $ 100k = $ 1mil and 10 * $ 275k = $ 2.75mil. Only 5 million dollars, so what happened to the other 5 million? They will go as a prize fund for a separate competition, which will begin with the advent of the first device with Android on sale. The deadline for submitting applications for “Challenge II” has not yet been announced, but presumably it will be next year. If you missed the first competition, do not despair - try yourself in the next.
