Many people mistakenly believe that Ethernet uses a connector of this type. But this is not true.

In fact, Ethernet uses an
8P8C type
connector .

RJ45 just got used to designate all 8P8C cables and connectors, but it has nothing to do with them. In Wikipedia there is a table of symbols in commercial networks and there it is signed in brackets that, actually, these symbols are incorrect. RJ45 is 8P2C.
