Autothysis128t: SSD with a very serious information protection system

Protecting personal information or company data that you do not want to “shine” is a sore point for many in our time. Highlights of personal photographs of well-known personalities, industrial espionage, NSA (National Security Agency) - this is only a small fraction of what can be given as an argument for the need to use serious systems to protect critical data for personal or corporate needs.

British scientists English company Secure Drives is engaged in the production of storage devices, protected from access by third parties. The latest development of this company is a protected SSD, the Autothysis128s model and the Autothysis128t. In the design of the drive is a GSM-module that allows you to send a command to destroy (physical) NAND-chip and security controller. And that's not it.

Together with the SSD comes a special "token" with a touchscreen display connected to the drive wirelessly. Security functions (including opening SSD for reading / writing) are managed using a token.

All information on the device is encrypted according to the standard 256-bit AES CBC, plus a two-level authorization system is provided for access to information, in conjunction with the already mentioned token, a cryptographic device with FIPS 140-2 level 3 certificate.

SSD is connected via SATAII or USB3 interfaces.

The destruction of data on the drive will be performed not only when the device receives an SMS with a specific code, but also if one of the following factors appears:

With the help of a token, all these functions can be configured, of course, everything can be immediately not included.

According to the developers, their device complies with European legislation; more than 100 laws of various regions are taken into account in the field of information security regulation.

Characteristics of the device:

Of course, such a device cannot be cheap: the price of the SSD 1567 USD +180 will have to be paid for the token. And yes, do not forget about $ 47 for an annual GSM subscription.
