StreamTV will become a regional Internet provider

StreamTV CJSC , which has several large regional cable TV networks under its management, received the necessary licenses for the provision of Internet access services in all regions of its presence. As reported by RBC daily , now the operator has 116 licenses, giving the right to provide double play services (paid broadcasting + broadband Internet access) in more than 25 cities of Russia.

According to Sergey Kotov, the deputy general director of the company for regional development, the course taken is the most logical one for the operator. “On the one hand,” he explains, “there is a high demand for Internet access, on the other hand, we have the opportunity, after a small reconstruction of the networks, to provide this service to the mass market at reasonable prices.” Kotov noted that the regional problem of inflated access prices is planned to be solved by buying traffic from long-distance operators in large volumes. In addition, in his opinion, the provision of access to the Internet as an additional service in a package with TV will make it possible to make the Internet even cheaper.
