In the calendar of all Russian game developers, the days from 2 to 4 October 2014 are circled in red. At this time, Crocus Expo will host one of the most important annual events in the Russian gaming industry - KRI 2014 conference. Here, experts from various professions gather to exchange experience: programmers, designers, animators, artists, scriptwriters and many others.

By the way, starting this year, the CWI takes place simultaneously with another event, the locomotive, the IgroMir exhibition. This event is intended primarily for the players themselves, here you can see almost all computer, console and mobile gaming innovations. Big and noisy show. So from the point of view of the gaming industry professionals, the joint holding of the GDC and IgroMir is very convenient, you can show yourself and see people and share your experience.

Any game genre evolves over time, it is a completely natural process. Approaches, unwritten rules, genre standards are changing. And it was especially clearly manifested in the development of the Allods Online and Skyforge projects. Danil wants to talk about some of the “applied” points that are worth remembering during the construction of the level. There are many that can be recruited, but only four will be highlighted in the report: determining the scale of the map by time, gameplay "history", minimizing assets when building the base layout and working with statistics. This is not only for an MMO and it is not “tricks”, but rather those moments that are usually (astonished by other designers) are forgotten when developing levels and often because of this get problems

Never Ending Story (Hall 1, October 3)
Alexey Kolesnikov, senior screenwriter for the studio Allods Team

Arthur will also share a kind of anti-Soviets, that is, he will tell about the characteristic mistakes of developers who can spoil any casual game.

New race in "Allods Online" (Hall 2, October 2)
Evgeny Laschev, art director of the project “Allods Online”
Dmitry Pasechny, Scram-master of the team of characters of the project “Allods Online”

This time there will be two speakers at once. Eugene and Dmitry will share their experiences on a variety of issues. In particular, they will tell about how the unique and easily recognizable game race of pridents was created, and what rake the developers attacked. Also, inquisitive listeners will learn how developers manage to strike a balance between the classic style of Allods Online and modern graphics requirements. Finally, Evgeny and Dmitry will share their experience in the difficult task of attracting new players and maintaining interest among the “veterans”.

In addition, interesting reports from our partners are waiting for you at the CWI, and we also recommend paying attention to them.

Rules of cooperation (Hall 1, October 3)
Eric DeMilt, Producer Skyforge (Obsidian Entertaiment)

Eric will dedicate his speech to changes in the traditional patterns of interaction between game developers. Traditional “work for hire” relationships are outdated and more likely to interfere than contribute to successful game development. Eric will talk about how they restructured their business processes, focusing on flexibility and positive results. The new approach focuses on the joint work of development teams, the purpose of which is to create great games, rather than complying with the planned amount of work and strict observance of deadlines.
