China has created the most accurate face recognition system in the world and builds a payment system based on it

Researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences have developed a face recognition system that can detect the right person in a crowd with an accuracy of up to 99.8%. The system recognizes a person from 91 different angles. The previous record of accuracy in recognition of persons was at the level of 97.6% and belonged to the American system.

Tests have confirmed that the program even knows how to find differences between identical twins, recognize heavily made-up faces, and identify a person tightly wrapped in clothes. This technology not only recognizes faces with almost one hundred percent accuracy, but also does it very quickly, which will be useful for the police in the event of a prosecution of a criminal in a crowd.

The Chinese technology will appear in the form of an application for tablets as a new payment system and will consist of the above-described perfect computer algorithm for face recognition and special POS terminals. Details have not been disclosed.

A video image will be used for automatic identification of subscribers. In total, the payment will take approximately 6 seconds to complete.

The system will “capture” the user's face with the mobile module, after which the computer algorithm will begin to verify it with the previously created base of reference images.

According to preliminary data, the launch of the system will take place in 2015.
