PayPal will block "dangerous" browsers, including Safari and old IE

The PayPal payment system plans to block access to its financial services using browsers that do not support the technology of automatically blocking fake websites, and also do not support EV SSL certificates. Safari may also be banned, where EV SSL support is not yet planned.

PayPal can be understood, because it is one of the main goals for phishing. According to representatives of the payment system, if you allow browsers without anti-phishing technology, then this is equivalent to car manufacturers allowing users to buy cars without seat belts. Allowing such “reckless” users to calmly walk through their site, PayPal, in fact, fertilizes the soil for phishers.

At the first stage, users with unsafe browsers will receive warnings, and in the near future, some of the browsers will be banned completely.

Perhaps the example of PayPal will soon be followed by banks and other financial services that traditionally suffer from phishing. According to Gartner statistics, last year, 3.6 million clients of financial services fell victim to such frauds, which lost a total of $ 3.2 billion.
