Turkey overtook China and closed the spam pedestal

According to statistics for the first three months of 2008, 92.3% of all e-mail sent in the world is spam. Sophos also notes that every three seconds, another spam-oriented resource appears on the Internet. On the day, the number of such sites grows by 23,300.

For the first time, Turkey was in the top three most active spammer countries, increasing the flow of spam from 3.8% to 5.9% of the total. The US is confidently holding the first place from 15.4%, the second from Russia, which increased the amount of spam generated from 3% to 7.4%, which allowed it to move from the tenth to the “honorable” second. However, Russia already occupied the second step of this pedestal in 2007, gaining 8.3%. At that time, the proportion of spam from the United States was 21.3%, while China ranked third with 4.2%.

Next on the list: China, Brazil, South Korea, Poland, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, Spain and France. These countries generate 29% of all global spam.
