There are no airports in the world where travelers would not face cancellation or delay of flights. American startup Delaycast helps people find out in advance whether they will have to sit in the terminal for an hour or two or three. The task of the Delaycast is to provide information about possible difficulties on air routes. Retrospective statistics of this kind are available on many sites, but Delaycast technology allows you to make predictions for the future. The problem is solved by analyzing existing data.
The site has two main “tools”: Delay Predictions and Delay Profiles. In our testing, we chose Los Angeles Airport as a point of departure. We were interested in what day is best to fly out of this sunny city. The explanations given below the results table describe the principle of grading. However, all that the user needs to know is clearly written in the second paragraph: “When considering flight selections, look for lower numbers” (when planning a departure, choose the day with the least points). Accordingly, in the next few months, Los Angeles is best to leave on Sunday. “Delay Index” (Delay Index, right column) on this day is only 98.0, which is two points below the average, since the average value in these complex calculations is 100.
