Announcement of the online course “Programming a robot with ROS”



Hello! We are a small development team of the Tod Bot service robot. In our practice, we widely use the ROS framework, constantly solving with it the tasks urgent for our robot: from motion control and data processing from sensors to autonomous indoor navigation, speech and pattern recognition, high-level robot behavior.
Today, as part of the competition on the Stepic educational platform, we are announcing the online course “Robot Programming with ROS”. Our course will be of interest to people who are not indifferent to programming and robotics, and are ready to acquire new knowledge and skills in developing software for robots, of course, with the necessary efforts. You can get an idea of ​​the course content from a small intro video.

The course will consist of 7 weekly modules, and the expected load will be 6-7 hours per week. It is planned to use lectures in the format of video slides, screen demos, various kinds of quizzes and programming tasks in Python as teaching materials. Students will also have the opportunity to work in a simulator with data from real sensors.
Now the course page presents his plan with a general description of each module and a demo lesson. We will be grateful if you will get acquainted with the demo lesson, express your opinion and suggestions regarding the format of training tasks.
In the case of our victory as a result of the vote, in which each of you can take part, pretty soon the full course will be publicly available. We hope to see our students soon!
