Google Campus and 3D printing of decorations

Morphe.us.com is a unique project that combines an original idea, modern technology and an original way of organizing the production process. Just want to emphasize that the article is not advertising in nature, and its author has nothing to do with the site, which will be discussed.

The main idea of the project "Morphius" is the possibility of restoring lost jewelry or creating unique author's products using 3D printing. Features of the organization of the process can significantly reduce the time gap between the order and delivery of jewelry, as well as simplify all stages of the production of jewelry.

Video on how this is organized:

The process of creating jewelry:

1. Photo upload

If we are talking about the restoration of lost jewelry, just upload a few photos, which clearly shows all the outlines. But "Morphius" is not limited to the reconstruction of decorations that exist in reality. As a starting point, frames from the film, drawings and other images can be used, which will provide sufficient information about the general view and all the details that are necessary for accurate reproduction of the product.

2. Development of a 3D model

Based on the downloaded images, several projects are being developed, each of which has a preliminary cost. After selecting one or another option, the customer has the opportunity to make changes to the proposed model of decoration. To do this, it is enough to indicate the corresponding element on the product model and describe the desired changes.

3. Printing

On the basis of the created model, the product is printed on a 3D printer, after which the final processing by the jeweler takes place.

A little about the creators and the history of the project:

On the project site stated that:

"Morphius was created by designers, jewelers and veterans of 3D printing."

The founder of the project is Tanya Demm Bokobza, editor-in-chief of IDSA, a magazine that is considered one of the most authoritative publications in the field of industrial design. In addition, Tanya holds a bachelor's degree from the School of Design in Rhode Island.

Before embarking on the creation of Morfius, she managed to participate in two startups, one of whom worked in the field of semiconductors, and the second in the use of virtual reality in medical equipment.

The existence of the project was made possible by the startup support program, which was founded by Google. Google-Campus is a system of startup centers located on almost all continents. Today, the program has offices in London, Sao Paulo, Seoul, Tel Aviv and Warsaw.

The campus is a symbiosis of coworking and a business incubator, in which entrepreneurs can not only find a place to organize the workflow, but also get expert advice from highly qualified professionals. In addition, in most “campuses” there are business incubators that help start-ups to put their ideas into practice.
