On e-bikes around Russia or in search of outlets outside the Moscow Ring Road

"Are you sure of your supply?" Do you have 240 sockets? Then we go to you! ”

Last year’s experience had already shown the success of “intergalactic flights” on electricity, as well as corrected the entry point to the group of adventurers from two to 4 kWh - this would allow driving 200km without recharging and therefore increasing the average mileage per day. Therefore, in the spring a new transport was assembled and closer to the middle of summer a test drive was arranged to Ryazan and back. The corresponding video is attached:

It was impossible to lower the degree. Therefore, the plans were ambitious:

MSC-Vladimir-NN-Kazan-Perm-Ekb-Chelyabinsk-Ufa-Samara-Volsk-Penza \ Saratov-Tambov-MSK

Only 4000 kilometers with a penny. The schedule was quite hard, it was required to meet the typical 25-28 calendar days - holidays, alas, not rubber. Depending on the timing, it was still planned to hook up to Voronezh to Gubkin to old acquaintances, and also very much wanted to check how they were doing in Zadonsk left in the XT60 shield last year.

Initially, 6 people fit into the adventure, but in the end only four went. This is me, Andrey (AndreyM), Kolya (Nick_DR), and Alexey (FasR7). Actually went last year's composition minus Amaranthus

At 9 am "X" all charged, assembled and ready for departure:

The first day and the first surprises - it was originally planned to be in the evening already in the Lower, but fate decreed otherwise. The carriage in the house where friends were waiting for us at the intermediate pit stop in Vladimir could not stand the load and melted down. Because of the 12 squares of the underwater space, then they went snot at 0.75mm² into two apartments. As they have not puffed so far, given the presence of teapots and stiralok - only God knows. In general, we changed the snot, put 5mm² in there on the flat and the process started. But the day was irretrievably lost. Therefore, the next morning we met as before in Vladimir:

We got to Nizhny Novgorod relatively quickly, although the second day also didn’t go without nezhdanchik. Kohl, having managed to fly to the city a little before us, got up there for charging and pulled the throttle to highlight the display. In vain, in vain he did it, because In the latest controller firmware, this could lead to his bach (which is what happened). Fortunately, we had a reserve and we rushed to his rescue:

You attach yourself to this, and you rush to 80+ with an expense like 40. Two times faster and two times more economical. During the trip, even his own classification of donors appeared:

Suburban trainAn old Kamaz loaded with earth \ vegetables to the eyeballsSpeed 60 in a straight line, 55 uphill, 65 downhill. They usually go no farther than 20km from their city / village. Hence the name
SuitcaseSuburban train with trailerSpeed 70 in a straight line, 45 uphill, 65 downhill. Faster downhill is simply not pulling the engine. Usually found on the tracks between neighboring villages. The name comes from the shape of the last "car" - like a suitcase on wheels
Long-distance trainsNormal wagonSpeed 80 in a straight line, 75 uphill, 90 downhill. Under the hill accelerates to facilitate entry into it. There are everywhere, go on the highway at least 100km, sometimes right from the city to the city, it’s a pity, halfway down the street they usually eat :)
SapsanEspecially nimble wagonSpeed 90-95 in a straight line, 97 uphill, 110 downhill. Under the hill, again, they are accelerated to facilitate entry into it. Outwardly, no different from the usual truck, you will not understand until you sit down. However, if the controller allows it, you can rush after it.

In general, in the Lower we were already in the evening, we even tried to find the PEC office to send the dead controller back to the MSC under warranty, but we did not have 5 minutes before it was closed.

We spent the night at the apartment of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, the grandfather of one of the friends of the members of the forum. We told him that how it works for us, and he tells us about the city. At 5 in the morning, I and Alexey, requesting a dream, went for a ride on the Nizhny Novgorod metro and cable car through the Volga. Impressions are unforgettable.

True, the morning adventures did not go away without a trace, closer to dinner, and while Andrei and Kolya sent a controller to the PEC, Alexey was knocked out right on his couch :)

They didn’t get to Kazan right away, got up with tents for the night at the Sura river:

In Kazan itself, local electric bikers were already waiting for us with their cultural program in parks, city and beaches:

Special mention worthy of evening exercises. Again ... yes, the wiring, but a little not the way you thought. How was the case: in the evening, all over the village suddenly turned off the light. We even joked that we first cut down one house, now a village, and not far from the city. The owner reassured and said that this is a frequent occurrence. And without any hindrance, the generator started up. Which ... fanfare ... is plugged into an ordinary outlet through ... once again, fanfare ... 0.75 squares. The generator of course started, and even worked. Minutes 5. Then there was a clap, and everyone understood what had happened. In general, the generator carrier was also pumped, and the bikes were turned away from sin, otherwise he was poor and barely worked, if he had connected the water pump from the well, he would have stopped altogether. But after half an hour the light was given and the process went the normal way.

On the way to Perm there were two significant events, not including which in the general report - just blasphemy. Firstly, near Izhevsk, we found an elegant “branch of revolts ” among some abandoned huts:

So far, only Andrei and I were included, everything worked fine, but when Alexei was still stuck, this case was clicked off. A machine inside, respectively, outside the access zone. Therefore, each creature is organized in a pair of phases:

and secondly, the next morning, when we drove from the place of overnight stay for 150 km and got up to recharge - I almost immediately banged my power supply. So I got a “load of 200”, which I drove right down to Ufa (where I finally got to the post office and sent it to myself in the MSC). I had to recharge after Alexey, and with a delay of 3 hours, already at night, I drove into the city alone. Considering that in the morning on the shortcut from the place of overnight stay (a primer with pits on a half-wheel and a comb from tractors) I still had one of the two headlights fell off, it was not very pleasant. The next day, my headlamp was restored, they came up with what to do with charging - we had one at once on 3 kW, i.e. it was possible to solder “SharePoint” and to smoke two bikes and a half from it at once. Left the city through the Kama hydroelectric station, och majestic structure:

Unfortunately, such a friendly sun did not last long, and all the remaining 400km to Ekaterinburg had to be carried out under heavy rain and thunderstorms, which caused two breakdowns. Firstly, in Ekb itself, as it turned out, the display keyboards all failed - in the rain they stratified at speed, water got on the contacts and hello, neither unlock the e-bike, nor the profile switch. And secondly, according to the good old tradition, Kolya, who had flown forward, got into the very center of the thunderstorm and got up to work there. As he later told, in the house of builders, where he asked for an outlet, he went four times. People poured out of it like ants, shouting "light is flying there." Naturally, the whole electrician got burned, it is unclear just how miraculously the e-bike charge survived and in general he led. The controller took off the stabilizer to 5v and it could only go in a sensorless mode, because there was no power supply to the halls. All this was eliminated in Yekaterinburg, the location in which is also worthy of special mention is the radio engineering college, in agreement with the director:

Andrey was optimistic that the road to Chelyabinsk would be more pleasant, ha! Even worse, because before Ekb it was at least warm, and here it was also cold:

One way or another, but we got to Chelyabinsk, and there we were given those very medals that at the very beginning of the article. While we were having lunch at the cafe, a very brave girl was found, who risked going up to the crowd of guys and asking who the bike was there, standing a little apart. The girl turned out to be a motorcyclist with experience, the bike turned out to be mine, and having conducted an educational program for what, transferred control to her. First with bags, then bags removed and sent to ride away. She returned on foot and with a slightly curtailed rudder - some impurity bombed undercut her when leaving the yard. Urgently brought her to the emergency room and waited for the diagnosis - do not worry.

The next item on the plan was Miass, where another breakdown awaited us:

Allowing the alarms not really helped, so they simply put a spring in there. There was a Fox Float, became Fox Vanila =) And so we went. The road to Ufa was remembered by serpentines with gorgeous views and the moment when I had to pedal a dozen kilometers, because I still had a charge with Andrei and I thought they were still ahead. Or rather, I pushed up the hill, flew 50 off the slide, was sick 15 in a straight line. But then the Lukoilovskaya gas station turned out to be extremely good - it pulled 5 kW without a drawdown even in carrying (230v)

Ufa threw us problems - a freshly revealed bug when charging through the controller - if the charging time exceeds 6 hours (left at night with low power), that is, the probability of opening both arms of the phase on each other due to overflow of the timer is nonzero. Therefore, by morning I received a non-working controller:

Feta soldered (the second also died), the driver was fixed, the technique worked. Of course, we lost a little time on this, but we had a cultural program - a center, pictures, a movie. I will not bring such a trivial matter anymore, it’s enough that I threw it out on the Lower River. We reached Volsk (Andrei's homeland) without problems, not counting the fact that the second half of the way was in the rain, and the last 100km was after midnight, and I was cut down not in a detski manner. 5 times he came around on the side of the road, he caught consciousness a couple of times on an opposite, and once head-on with a counter gazelle - after which the whole dream disappeared like a hand. In Volsk, we disconnected - after experiencing Volsk, I and Alexey thought that we should go overnight to Tambov, Kolya and Andrey decided to rush all 600 in one fell swoop. Therefore, we left a day earlier, and on the same night, Andrei and Kolya lost another controller - the same bug with nightly charging (nobody knew the reason for my bach then, it was assumed that we were tired of fets), so we had day odds. They repaired the controller, but lost a day on it. In general, from Volsk to Tambov through Penza the road passed without the procession,

but after Tambov, when Aleksey had already driven off 100km in the direction of Moscow, his front hub bearings collapsed. And we heard them in Tambov, twisted on weight, understood that the backlash, but decided that it was just a little bit (500 km) to the house, because there was no place to look for an imported bearing on Saturday. And on Monday, he had to go to work. I did not know yet whether I would go directly or still wait for Andrei and Kohl and would rush with them to Gubkin, so I stayed. In general, a rescue mission was forcedly carried out at 5 am Sunday, and I finally decided on the route:

So we continued on and rode with Lehoy, until the gayts “neighing” stopped us:

This was not the first time, but the first, when a camera hung on me. There was absolutely nothing left for Moscow, and at 12 at night we were within the Moscow Ring Road.

A bit of dry stats. List of losses:

1 supply in a residential building (electricians carelessness)
3 display keyboards (rain)
4 controllers (three due to bugs, one lightning)
1 plug (this is certainly a surprise)
1 bearing sleeve (most likely due to rain)
2 charges (mine - possibly due to the input filter bitten out of it in order to facilitate and Alexey - the choke fell off from vibrations, was soldered on the same day)

total mileage - 4500km, out of 22 days of the total travel time directly on the road - 15 days. 5 hours of driving are interspersed with 2..3 hour charging, respectively, you can do three full rounds per day, 500km

ps I usually try to make a review clip, but in this case there is so much material that its creation will drag on for an indefinite period. Therefore, for the time being, only the text and the playlist from the selected entries , generally covering the entire time interval

update and here is the main video:
