The 10th International
Linux Vacation / Eastern Europe Conference was held on August 22-24 at the traditional site - the Khimik camp site in the forests of the Grodno region.
The anniversary event gathered about 160 participants - users and developers, newcomers and community veterans from Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Poland and Slovakia.

The rain, which started on Saturday, thoroughly dampened the participants, but did not affect the general spirit of the conference: free exchange of opinions, ideas, knowledge, informal communication and groundwork for future professional cooperation.
Within the framework of the conference, 20 reports and 2 workshops were presented, partially merged into thematic blocks.
Friday evening was devoted to the use of robots in various aspects of human life. Participants learned about the project “Smart GreenHouse” to control and automate the cultivation of plants in greenhouses, about the waterfowl robot developed at the Brest Technical University for monitoring water bodies managed by free software. The evening was completed by the workshop “Robotics Operation System and the master of vacuum cleaners”, which gradually turned into informal communication and a traditional kebab.

The second day began with reports on free licensing. Minsk "pirates" told about the creation of a branch of Creative Commons,
Andrew Shadura, the developer, on the release of the Kalithea project, and a representative of the Moscow initiative, on tricks to temporarily bypass the “viral” restrictions of the GPL in the interests of business. The latest report provoked a predictable mixed reaction of the public and heated discussions.
The range of topics for the rest of the conference was quite wide - information security, data processing, various practices
development and more. Abstracts of all reports are included in the 200-page collection "Open Technologies"; The materials of the LVEE Winter 2014 Winter Conference were also included there.
Not without its two traditional sections of the blitz reports. Everyone who spoke was speaking to them: without moderation, but with a guaranteed mute on a timer.
Genuine mass interest attracted the story of creating a 3D cartoon using Blender and several graphic editors. Harsh developers watched with delight as the character dolls gradually came to life on the screen. The room into which the students were evacuated due to the threat of rain did not accommodate all the animation lovers. Those without seats watched the process through the open windows.
The demonstrated result was met with deserved applause both indoors and outdoors. It was this voting report that was recognized as the best, and its author, Victoria Babakhina, took the prize away from the organizers home to Ryazan.

Surprise for the participants of the anniversary conference were a magnificent cake decorated with a penguin figure and symbols of LVEE (cones), as well as festive fireworks.
