Seagate launches 8TB HDD

 

Just a few years ago, a memory capacity of 8 TB in an ordinary PC seemed almost fantastic. Now this does not surprise anyone, however, such amounts of available memory are created by installing several HDDs.

Now, Seagate has announced the start of sales of the 8TB hard drive model, according to company representatives, this is the first HDD in the world of such capacity. In addition to capacity, the model is characterized by high energy efficiency and performance.

About these hard drives became known in July, when the company first told about them. A little later, 8 TB HDDs were sent to corporate clients for testing. Actually, devices are intended, first of all, for server systems of an enterprise class where there is a need for work with large volumes of data.

A company press release published a few days ago states that the new HDDs use the SATA 6 Gb / s interface. Form factor model - 3.5 inches.

Unfortunately, nothing more about the new drives is unknown, there is no information even about their possible price. Nevertheless, it can be assumed that the price will be about 350-400 dollars, since earlier models with a volume of 6 TB were sold for about $ 300 in retail.
