Suvilahti's data center is a kind of “working platform” of TelecityGroup Finland, a platform that has been operating steadily since its commissioning in November 2011. A distinctive feature of the data center is the use of water from the Baltic Sea to cool server equipment. Finland, it should be noted, is one of the foremost in the use of sea water for cooling. The heat generated by the servers enters the district heating network of Helsinki to heat nearby houses. This innovation makes it possible to achieve advantages in energy efficiency and to achieve a PUE level of less than 1.3 at full load. The unique design of the Suvilahti was made possible by the extensive Helsinki tunnel system, which houses the municipal infrastructure, and an extensive city centralized heating and cooling system.

A high level of data center security is achieved by fencing the perimeter, external and internal video surveillance cameras, and regular security patrols and access cards. Like our other data centers, Suvilahti has been certified for compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and OHSAS 18001.
