Earth without people

Imagine: people will die out. And what about the land? Interesting? Channel The History Chanel made an attempt to predict the post-apocalyptic future in his two-hour documentary film Life After People .
Here are the footage from there.

Astrophysicist and writer David Brin said: “Each civilization has its own stories about Armegeddon and the Apocalypse, but we are the first generation, which, due to deliberate actions, has caused its death”.

It’s hard not to agree with this, because almost everything we build, write, invent, serves to meet our elementary needs, and therefore is necessary in the short term. Our civilization has not left anything grand, capable of fighting with time.

Especially this topic seems to worry the Americans. Here is a chronology of how New York will collapse.
2 days after the disappearance of people

Without constant pumping, the New York subway is completely filled with water.

7 days

Nuclear reactors ignite or melt as their water cooling systems stop working.

1 year

Sidewalks are cracking as the water that has penetrated into their gaps freezes and melts.

2 to 4 years old

In New York and other cities, cracked streets are covered with grass and trees, whose roots further break the sidewalks and destroy the already damaged sewer system.

4 years

Without heat, homes and offices fall victim to cyclical freezing / thawing and begin to break down.

5 years

By this time, much of New York could be burnt out, since a lightning strike to dry dry branches in Central Park could easily be the beginning of a catastrophic fire.

20 years

Many streams and swamps form in Manhattan, since the ruined streets are filled with water.

100 years

The roofs of almost all houses have failed, speeding up the process of destruction of buildings.

300 years

The hanging bridges of New York have collapsed. However, arched bridges, especially those built to allow trains to travel along them, can stand for hundreds of years.

500 years

All of New York is covered with dense forests.

5000 years

Since the shells of nuclear warheads have corroded, radioactive plutonium-239 penetrates the environment.

Over 15000 years

The remains of the last stone buildings in Manhattan fall under the pressure of oncoming glaciers, while a new ice age begins.

35,000 years old

Lead deposited in the soil from car exhausts in the 20th century is finally dissipated.

100,000 years

The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere returns to pre-industrial levels.

10 million years

Bronze sculptures, many of which still retain their shape, remain relics of the human epoch.

Over 1 billion years

While the brightness of the sun increases, the Earth begins to heat up, but many types of insects and other animals can adapt to this process.

5 billion years

The Earth evaporates, while the Sun expands and absorbs all the inner planets.

That's how scary everything is.

In this habratopic I used several sources, which in turn used other sources and so on. I can't name PervoSource for this :)
