Microsoft starts testing the VoIP server

On Monday, Microsoft began testing server software, which makes it possible to make phone calls over the Internet using Office or business software.

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, which will be released in the second quarter of 2007, will help the company get into the business telephony market. Microsoft will test it on 2500 volunteer companies before commercializing the product.

A rather tough competition from such companies as Cisco, IBM and other major players is waiting for the corporation on the market, Reuters reports.
