Autodesk will not sell software to sanctioned companies
Autodesk , a major developer of software for the automation of architectural and engineering design (among its products is a well-known tool for two-dimensional Autocad design), asked Russian partners to stop supplying software and updates to some Russian companies, the Vedomosti newspaper reported .
The list of companies listed in the letter Autodesk, in general, coincides with the sanctions list of the US Treasury. According to CNews, who familiarized himself with the content of the document: this is the Almaz-Antey Corporation, the Kalashnikov Concern, the Radio Electronic Technologies Concern (KRET), a manufacturer of ammunition for the ground forces, the Air Force and the Navy FSUE Basalt, the Tula Instrument Engineering Design Bureau InvestCapitalBank, OJSC Izhmash, the military industrial complex NPO Mashinostroeniya, concern Sozvezdie, Stroygazmontazh, Stroytransgaz, Transoil, IC Abros (subsidiary of Russia Bank), NPK Uralvagonzavod, transport Sakhatrans and Feodosia oil terminal.
Autodesk products are used not only in construction, but also in the oil and gas, chemical, metallurgical industries, as well as in engineering, including the military-industrial complex. Mechanical engineering is gradually moving to three-dimensional design, for this industry the loss of Autodesk products will be less sensitive than for construction or oil and gas design.
Other large US and European software manufacturers can follow the example of Autodesk, experts say, such as Microsoft and SAP. Their representatives do not comment on this.
