The development team of the Brazilian University of Saint Katharina has designed the appropriate solution to help the car determine when the driver is talking instead of devoting his full attention to the situation on the road.
In the US, 85 percent of drivers talk on the phone while driving. Just five seconds are needed to dial the number ... But the car at a speed of 60 miles per hour in these five seconds will travel (almost uncontrollable!) 140 meters. And more than 80 percent of accidents in the same states occur when the driver is distracted from the road for just three seconds.

The point is to find a hand raised to the face with a mobile. Then the system “notes” all the pixels of skin color and estimates the probability that the driver has a phone in his hand. Finally, the car issues a warning.
Testing was conducted using a camera with a resolution of 320 x 240. There were also unpleasant moments in the system: for example, if a bright light falls on the driver's face, there are difficulties in determining the desired skin color pixels.
It is easy to develop this topic a little bit and add automatic sending of messages to the road services. Unless, of course, the driver agrees to drive a car with such a system.
