Free Wifi in Russia is now on the passport

"Izvestia" write , and in the comments give a link to the official source that "the Russians will no longer be able to access the Internet in cafes, subways and other public places anonymously," and the user will have to be identified by the telecom operator by establishing the last name, first name and patronymic (if available) of the user, confirmed by an identity document. The corresponding decree was signed a week ago by Dmitry Medvedev.

State Duma deputy Dengin substantiated the need for the introduction of such measures by the “information war with the United States” and the notorious scammers, fascists and extremists. Following this logic, it can be recalled that among the deputies there are also sometimes fraudsters and other unreliable comrades, including those who have close ties with the United States.

On the one hand, Russia is not the first here: in many countries, including the “civilized”, anonymous access to the network can be obtained only by chance.

On the other hand, it is completely incomprehensible how this will be implemented in practice. The owners of cafes and parks will not collect personal, let alone passport data. As an option, it is proposed to introduce some welcome pages on uplinks, offering to fill in the access form on their own - but this raises the question of validating the data of this form, because the inspecting authorities are unlikely to trust someone for the word.

The era of free internet, alas, is over. And just do not need hysteria about "this country" - the attack on the Internet are the governments of most countries of the world. That does not make this fact less sad.

For now, three things can be firmly said:

1. Most public networks simply close down - their owners do not need an extra headache.
2. The income of broadband providers of cellular companies will definitely grow.
3. For the notorious fraudsters and extremists, nothing will change. Even now they are buying “anonymous” SIM cards from their hands without any problems.

After all, the Internet is nothing more than a means of communication. You have long been unable to legally get an anonymous phone number, for some time - to run a popular blog anonymously, and now use the Internet anonymously.

In the Safe Internet League today is a holiday.

UPD: In kamentah write that everything is not as bad as it looks at first glance.
