VMware ACE Workaround
Once I got into the hands of USB-hdd with software.
The necessary software was installed in a virtual machine and packed in a container
VMware ACE. Next was a small installation and configuration guide.
Since the disk was usb2.0, then I, logically, assuming that the speed of work with
starting a virtual machine will not be quite comfortable, launched
copying to a test computer (total amount of the order of 500 GB.)

The next day I was “pleasantly” surprised by running the installation. At the stage
a virtual machine launch, a message appeared in which I was notified that
launch is possible only from the source media Copied data

shift + del.
For verification, I tried to start from a usb disk. Virtual machine

Thinking “What will happen if the screw fails?” I began to study the entrails and found the following points in
virtual machine setup:
1. Changing the settings is prohibited in the properties of the ACE container (password
naturally not). But the virtual machine has
2. Network adapter bridged to host adapter
3. CD / DVD drive.
Further events could develop faster, but the usb interface introduced
its contribution.
In order:
1. Downloading an iso-image of clonezilla (acronis is also possible, but I started cloning from one virtual machine to another and all this happened within the same computer)
2. Create a virtual machine with roughly similar characteristics.
3. Start the virtual machine that is located on the USB drive and enter
in her BIOS.
4. PKM on cd / dvd drive icon. We mount downloaded on the first step

5. Reboot. When loading, press ESC (I needed training here) and
choose boot from disk.
6. We fall into the familiar interface of your favorite distribution for cloning
drives.
7. Check that the virtual disk is successfully detected and start the interface.

8. On the newly created virtual machine, we perform steps 3-6, but indicate
server parameters from which cloning and disk will be performed
assignments (in the clonezilla interface, everything is very clearly defined).
9. We are waiting.

11. We are waiting. My drives are not very fast. And the source is connected through,

12. After copying, I received a copy of the virtual machine without
binding to a specific device, and the disk wrapped with three layers of pimply film and put in a safe.
