"Cassini" received a picture of "the eyes of Saturn"

The atmospheric storms on Jupiter and Saturn are very interesting objects to explore. On Jupiter, the most famous is the "Big Whirl", an education in which you can put a couple of dozen Earths.

On Saturn, this is a six-sided atmospheric storm, which was recently filmed on video by the Cassini apparatus using color filters.

Now, Cassini, flying at a distance of 2.2 million kilometers from Saturn, received a detailed snapshot of the "eye of Saturn" - the center of that hexagonal storm. According to experts, the diameter of the "eye" is 2 thousand kilometers.

The wind speed in this place reaches an enormous value of 150 meters per second. By the way, the photo was received on April 2 of this year, but it is uploaded to the Network just now. The image was obtained using a spectral filter that transmits radiation with a wavelength of 748 nanometers.

The Cassini-Huygens project is a joint development of NASA, ESA, the Italian Space Agency and the California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The main task of the spacecraft created under the project is the study of Saturn and Titan, the satellite of this giant planet.

The Cassini spacecraft entered Saturn orbit on July 1, 2004. On January 14, 2005, Cassini sent the Huygens probe to Titan, which landed on the surface, and recorded sound during descent.
