ASUS and IBM exchanged courtesies

Taiwan-based Asustek sued IBM . The reason for the prosecution was the illegal use of two patents. One of them concerns the provision of remote access of Internet devices to data storages, the second one from the sphere of server solutions.

Asustek filed a charge and filed it in a California court. The claimant’s requirement is to oblige IBM to stop using problematic patents and also to compensate for the damage. Such zeal on the part of ASUS is in response to IBM’s actions.

Let me remind you that in December 2007, IBM accused ASUS of using expired patents. As a punishment, IBM asked the US International Trade Commission to impose an embargo on ASUS computers.

These controversial patents defended power supply technology, computer cooling, and clustering of machines. According to information provided by IBM, ASUS used patents as when assembling computers under its own brand, and they were also used by Apple and Dell .
