A delivery drone that flies like a plane and sits like a helicopter
What happens if you combine a quadrocopter with an airplane? A trio of students thought about it and developed VertiKUL. This device takes off, as usual quadrocopter, and for flight on long distances uses wings. Video - under the cut.
Students worked this apparatus for a master's thesis. In principle, they needed to make a full-featured drone. They went ahead and made an unmanned vehicle, which takes off and sits vertically, but it also has wings. These wings during takeoff and landing are placed vertically, they rotate in the air and occupy the desired position.

Winged drones already have a place to be, but they need a strip, which is not so convenient. And this drone will be able to deliver mail (for Amazon, for example). Not everyone in the yard has such a band.
VertiKUL is able to transfer cargo weighing 1 kilogram for 30 kilometers.
