Amazon invests in Wikia
The company Amazon.com Inc., the owner of the popular online store Amazon , has become an investor in the commercial “brother” of Wikipedia - the Wikia project. The amount of investment has not been disclosed, according to Techcrunch .
Some time ago, it also became known that Wikia plans to acquire the sports community ArmchairGM for $ 2 million. Most likely, the funds from Amazon will be used mostly in this deal.
In March of this year, the project has already received funding from Bessemer Venture Partners and the Omidyar Network. The main direction of the project is the creation of various thematic communities on the wiki engine.
