RBC Daily . Sociologists identify two reasons explaining this - the lack of time among people and the rapid development of electronic media, in particular, television and the Internet.
37% of Russians do not read books at all, the researchers concluded. 40% of respondents read from time to time. At the same time ten years ago, only 18% of the respondents never or almost never read books.
Now from those who read constantly, the majority (24%) are fond of female detective stories, 19% - the so-called "female prose", 18% - works in the genre of "Russian fighter". 16% and 14% read historical-adventure classics and modern historical prose, 11% Russian Soviet classics. In non-fiction, the leaders of the book are about health (25%), cooking (20%), and also professional literature (20%).
