Geek Picnic 2014 and my last year picnic experience
Last year, I didn’t have much time to look at Geek Picnic, because I was busy with giving everyone the opportunity to plunge into the style of arcade machines with buttons and stick with the help of the classic Marvel vs Capcom fighting game. Therefore, this year, in order to get the maximum of emotions from Geek Picnic, I have compiled a collection of unusual things that will be available at the festival.
I must say that this year my arkadnik will not be on Picnic. His gaming board could not stand the burden of the past year and burned. And the project of creating a full-fledged automaton, which I talked about in this habrapost , is still frozen.

The only thing I managed to try on Geek Picnic 2013 was the Oculus Rift virtual reality helmet. He for me was the most memorable gadget of the past year. And this year, the Pebble watch was moved from the top line.
And now, I will try to briefly describe the events and devices that most interested me from the Geek Picnic program of this year.
1. The largest in Russia 3D-printer “Tsar 3D-printer”

This printer will surpass the current record holder from Germany, whose working surface allows you to make shapes with dimensions of 1147x1000x1188 mm or nearly 1.3 m³. Interestingly, the announced price of such a printer is $ 39,000, and our designer copes with the amount by an order of magnitude less.
2. ABB Robotics
These are industrial miracle robots, clips with which they have repeatedly scattered over the Internet. Previously, control control technology was available for them, and at the Picnic it would be possible to try out the neural interface and control the industrial robot with the power of thought. It is unlikely that it will turn out as impressive as in the video, but the topic of neural interfaces is becoming widespread this year, I really want to see it live, whether it is as good as in commercials.
3. Robot Mondo spider
I saw such a mechanical spider two years ago on Kickstarter . There, enthusiasts made a two-ton colossus with a 5-foot span. That spider, which can be seen at Picnic is much smaller and is developed by very different people.
4. Robot Tattoo
It is based on the usual Makerbot 3D printer and really want to look at the brave man who will give himself up in the hands of such a master and, of course, on the quality of the tattoo he received. When this robot was only announced for the press, he knew how to draw only in a circle. Further, the developers promised to teach the machine to do any tattoos already, but I do not know exactly what version of the gadget will be at Picnic.
5. Championship quadcopters
Last year, it was also held as part of Geek Picnic and commented on the well-known Courage Bambay. I hope that this year the organizers will make the competitions more spectacular, and the obstacle course for the copters is even more difficult. Indeed, over the past year, the aircraft and controls themselves have noticeably improved.
