The British record company EMI has posted two tracks in unprotected MP3 format on Yahoo Music . These songs - “Thinking About You” by Nora John and “Must Have Done Something Right” by the rock band Relient K - will be included in the not yet released albums of their performers. The price for each of the tracks is $ 0.99.
Experts attach special significance to the event, because before the products of the leading labels came out only with DRM-protection. There is, in particular, the opinion that this case is the herald of the demise of DRM. The management of the EMI itself explains its initiative by experimental interest.
Recall that in July of this year, Yahoo Music has already appeared a few songs by Jessica Simpson in MP3 (for $ 1.99), provided by Sony BMG. The same format also sold the whole Jesse McCartney album recorded by Hollywood Records.
