On flights to the United States banned from bringing discharged phones

Travelers flying to the United States will now need to make sure that they have charged phones and other electronic devices before flying out, reports The Verge. The US Transportation Security Administration has announced new regulations that will not allow passengers with discharged devices to take flights to the United States.

According to NBC News, new security measures have been taken to prevent the terrorist attack planned by al-Qaeda. Officials are said to be concerned that a laptop, smartphone or tablet can be used as a bomb to explode an airliner.

As a result, in addition to all other checks, passengers before the flight will have to prove that their devices can be turned on. The new rules will affect certain unnamed airports in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The passengers' shoes will also be subject to more thorough inspection.
