Google closes orkut

Google notified users of the Orkut service that after 10 years of operation, the company decided to close this site next fall (September 30, 2014).

The argument of this step is quite banal - the loss of interest of the target audience and the much higher growth of other services, both from Google and from other companies.

You can collect your data from Orkut until September 30, 2016 via Google Takeout . Photos can be transferred to Google+ .

All public posts are planning to move to an open archive. Those who do not want to get into this archive are advised to delete their personal data .
