Russian army will get a shockproof tablet based on domestic OS

The Defense Ministry and other law enforcement agencies will soon receive a batch of Russian shockproof tablets based on the domestic protected operating system REMOS (Russian Mobile Operating System) from ( TsNII EISU ). The pilot batch of these tablets has already been made.

The new tablet is equipped not only with a domestic OS, but also with a “smart” button that allows you to physically disable modules that can transmit information — a speaker, a microphone, cameras, GPS, 3G and Bluetooth — at any time.

The tablet can work under water at a depth of 1 m for 30 minutes, fully protected from dust and drops from a height of up to 2 m. It is operational at abnormally high temperatures - up to plus 55 degrees.

Judging by the photos, the domestic OS is built on the basis of Android.

The protected operating system of RoMOS implies the absence of information leakage, eliminates various bookmarks and makes it impossible to install spyware and wiretapping.

How the protection against spyware and wiretapping is implemented is also not specified.

It is reported that the tablet is implemented in two versions: normal and made for the Ministry of Defense. The version for the Ministry of Defense is made in a special impact-resistant case.

As I understand it, until finally this tablet is not adopted for "armament". To begin with, prototypes of this tablet will be tested in various military departments.

Judging by the post “By the end of the year, the first Russian tablet will be on sale , ” the development has advanced, but they have not fulfilled the promise to launch it into a series by the end of 2012.
