Lively: a smart gadget that will tell when an older person needs help

Smart devices are now increasingly, it is noticeable at least in the number of publications about such devices on Habré. Of course, all sorts of fitness trackers, smart watches and all other similar devices that are somehow related to work, organizing their time and sports are becoming most popular.

But there is another category of devices, perhaps less well-known, but very necessary. These are devices that facilitate, for example, the care of older people. Lightweight - in the sense that you do not need to pull information out of your grandmother, if she feels good, if she is dizzy, if she has taken medicine today, if she has eaten well and everything else. Well, if you live next to an elderly relative / relatives, and always know how they are doing, you can come to the rescue in case of problems.

And what if your old men live far away from you? In another city, or even a country? Then it is worth trying out Lively - an activity sensor for the elderly, a device that will immediately let you know if an elderly person needs help.

At the same time, Lively is not something like a baby monitor, no, this is a bundle of device + service that does not “spy” on a person, there are no cameras, private life remains private.

How it works?

There are sensors that are attached to different places (first aid kit, refrigerator, various kitchen appliances, keys) and react to movement / tremors. In this case, you can understand whether your ward opened a first aid kit or refrigerator, went out of the house, and if so, how many times.

In addition, if there is no activity in the house, and the keys are at home (this can be understood through the sensor on the keys), then you can take some measures. In this case, the device in such cases immediately sends notifications through the service / to the phone of relatives. True, so far all this works only in the United States.

Sensors send data to a hub, which, in turn, sends the collected information to the Lively service, where all of this is analyzed, and in a structured form is sent to a relative’s smartphone / relatives.

The device allows you to receive notifications through a computer, tablet or smartphone (iPhone is supported today, Android support is expected soon).

Lively

Additions

The developer company also provides access to the LivelyGram service. This service collects photos and messages of relatives of elderly people, and sends information about each of the relatives (grandchildren, children). That is, an elderly person is always aware of what happened to his grandson, to which he goes to kindergarten, what kind of friends he has and all that jazz.

Every two weeks, LivelyGram sends something like a printed booklet to the parents' inbox, with new photos of relatives (relatives, of course, must be subscribed to LivelyGram).

Price and order

The price of the device / service is 39.95 for the purchase, and $ 24 monthly for a subscription to the service Lively.

You can place an order either on the manufacturer’s website or from Medgadgets .

As mentioned above, the device and service so far only work in the United States, and in other regions it is impossible to use the service. It may be possible to agree with the manufacturer on the expansion of services to the territory of the Russian Federation. Anyway, now the company Medgadgets is conducting such negotiations.

And yes, it would be interesting to hear your opinion about Lively. Maybe this is a useless toy, and you should not agree with the manufacturer?
