Somehow passed by Habr, but the other day Microsoft achieved
judicial blocking about 20,000 NoIP subdomains. However, something went wrong and for "technical" reasons, allegedly blocked millions of users.
Most recently, the named company won a trial against NoIP and had to gain access to 22 service domains to prevent the spread of malware. However,
as always , millions of respectable users
have suffered. NoIP has already responded by
saying that Microsoft did not make any attempts to contact the firm, but immediately went to court. Only after the successful transfer of control over the domains .com, .net, .org, .biz and .info belonging to NoIP Microsoft made a statement that they
want to filter only "already known dangerous Hosts" , the good ones should continue to work. However, in practice the situation is different, the company was not ready to handle billions of user requests and the service collapsed.
A blessing in disguise,
Kaspersky said that the unplanned outage of the NoIP service hit the spyware groups that Microsoft didn’t even think about. “Syrian Electronic Army” and “HackingTeam” lost access to industrial tracking software.
