Through the eyes of Moscow subscribers. Rating of mobile operators for the 2nd quarter in dynamics

Moscow:
During the hours of greatest load (from 19:00 to 24:00) MegaFon maintains its leadership at an average speed — 1652 Kbps (+ 1% to Q1), YOTA is fixed at the 3rd place —1437 Kbps (+ 5%) against 1209 Kbps ( MTS) and overtakes the subscriber satisfaction index - 9.9% versus 10.6% of MTS.

On July 1, in Moscow (RIA Novosti press center), we presented our UXZoom method for measuring the quality of mobile Internet services "through the eyes of subscribers", and also told about the results of the 2 nd quarter rating (Q2) in comparison with the 1st quarter (Q1).

Moscow. 14.5 million measurements. Q1 vs. Q2

1. Data transfer rate.

The average speed of three of the four operators has grown, but in different ways.

In the hours of greatest load (from 19:00 to 24:00), MegaFon retains its leadership at an average speed — 1652 Kbps (+ 1% to Q1), Beeline is in second place with 1509 Kbps (+ 0.05%), but YOTA is catching up— 1437 Kbps (+ 5%), closes the MTS rating — 1209 Kbps (-9%). The average speed of the MegaFon network in Moscow ~ is 14% higher than the market average.

2. The percentage of failure of subscribers from viewing during buffering (Subscriber Satisfaction Index)

Most often, the video is interrupted without waiting for it to resume; MTS subscribers — 10.6% of the total number of video views are interrupted at the time of buffering.

Compared to the first quarter of 2014, the share of video tracks of the Moscow MTS network grew by 3.9%. The YOTA network, overtaking the MTS, took the third place in the quality of video viewing, showed the best positive dynamics: the number of video trails decreased by 4% and is 9.9% of the total number of views.
Less often, video views are forced to interrupt by MegaFon subscribers — 7.7%. The Beeline network shows an improvement in the quality of video previews and ranks second in the ranking with an indicator of 7.8%, which is 5.1% less than in Q1 2014 (8.2% of video lines).

Also, starting from Q2, we began to count KPIs such as:
- average number of buffers per 1 minute of viewing (pieces)
- average duration of buffering per 1 minute of viewing (in seconds)

In dynamics, these indicators are as follows (green line - Megaphone, yellow - Beeline, blue - YOTA, red - MTS):
Average number of buffers for 1 minute of viewing (pieces)
