Samsung has introduced a high-capacity, productive SSD with a vertical structure of memory cells.

Not so long ago, an official announcement of Samsung was published on Habré, which announced the start of mass production of the industry's first 3D flash memory, V-NAND, which has 32 vertically stacked layers of memory cells in its bulk structure.

Now the first SSD models have arrived on the market, the production of which was carried out on the basis of this particular technology. Drives are positioned as SSDs for high-performance systems, including high-end PCs / workstations. The new SSD model range is called the 850 PRO, and the capacity of the older model reaches 1 TB. And yes, the warranty on these SSDs is 10 years !

How productive are new drives? According to the developers, SSD of the specified model range is the most productive among all other models with SATA III interface. The read / write speeds for the 850 PRO are 550/520 MB / s, respectively. As for such a value as IOPS, the new model boasts 100,000 IOPS for reading and 90,000 IOPS for writing. This is about two times faster than in the case of drives with a "flat" structure of NAND memory cells.

As for the price, it is higher than other SSD models, but not transcendental:

Here is an interesting video explaining what 3D V-NAND technology is:

By the way, the company introduced its first SSD in 2006, i.e. 8 years ago.
