Japanese demand to install anti-piracy system on YouTube

Japanese society for the rights of authors, composers and publishers Jasrac asks YouTube to install an automatic system to prohibit downloading pirated videos. The appeal, directed to the management of the video sharing service, was signed on behalf of 23 Japanese TV stations and entertainment companies, reports Lenta.Ru .

It says about the need to install a system for prescanning files for pirated content, and also to make a warning in Japanese about the inadmissibility of piracy. In addition, it is proposed to disable users who violate copyrights. The organization asks the company to respond no later than December 15th.

Although YouTube has a policy of withdrawing materials from the first request of the right holder, the issue of mass piracy remains open. In October , about 30 thousand files belonging to Japanese authors were removed from YouTube.

According to Lenta, YouTube has already agreed to install a sound signature verification technology that can recognize clips for piracy, even with poor recording quality. Pirate clips will be denied placement, or they will be replaced with high-quality, approved by YouTube under license.
