Comstar bought the third largest provider of Greece

The alternative operator Comstar – United TeleSystems officially announced that it had signed an agreement with the Greek company Intracom Holdings on the acquisition of a 51% stake in Hellas on Line (HoL) in Greece. The transaction requires the approval of the Greek regulatory authorities, which the parties hope to receive during the first quarter of 2007. The amount of the transaction will be? 47.9 million.

As a result, Comstar-UTS will receive in its assets the third-largest Greek provider, which controls 12% of the broadband access market. Now the subscriber base of HoL has about 35 thousand ADSL-clients and 70 thousand dial-up users. The company's revenue in 2005 was 25.6 million.

Commenting on the purchase, the CEO of Comstar-UTS, Eric Franke, said that the acquisition of HoL will provide a springboard for the further development of broadband access services in a market characterized by the lowest penetration rates in Europe. “We have plans to integrate HoL into the business structure of Comstar-UTS and to rebrand its services and product offerings,” he added.
