The most efficient, responsible and sociable

A few days ago, the guys from the HeadHunter research service decided to have a little fun and looked at who in the IT world considers itself the most responsible, sociable, efficient, fast-learning and independent. In other words, who does not hesitate to use these popular, capacious, informative and “so beloved by recruiters” characteristics in your resume.

For comparison, we took a list of professions, the names of which employers most often enter when searching for a resume in the field of information technology. Analyzed 87.5 thousand resumes posted or updated in the first half.

It is important, from the editorial board: what people say or do not say about themselves in a resume does not always mean that they are or are not.

Testers and business analysts talk about their responsibility in the resume twice as often as java and C ++ programmers. Perhaps they believe that in their profession these qualities take priority?

And what about the sociability?

The biggest introverts and silencers (from our list), according to their own conviction, are Javascript programmers. In the opposite side of them on the degree of sociability - business analysts and SAP programmers! When they meet with each other, it’s probably only a monologue.

Most often, every tenth technical director tells future employers about his performance. In this discipline, system administrators may argue with them. But Java, .NET, C ++, C # programmers adhere to other guidelines: they prefer to avoid the word “performance” in all forms.

Nothing warms the soul of a recruiter like a quick learner of a candidate. But seriously, this is certainly an important quality of any employee (yes, just a person) software testers prefer to use an enviable margin. I wonder why it is so important for them to say this? SAP system administrators and SAP programmers are in second place, and system analysts are in third place.
The reluctance to talk about their fast learner for the first time brought together CIOs and Java programmers - they rarely prefer to write about it in the resume. And this is typical of people with any experience.

Well, independence is the hallmark of successful managers. Here, without any surprises, managers more often speak of autonomy - technical directors, project managers.

The conclusion from this small research can be made fairly simple - it’s characteristic of specifying personal qualities in a resume, first of all, for those whose work is tightly tied to communicating with people — internal customers, clients, and their own team. It is managers who believe that it is important for an employer to talk about their sociability, dedication, responsibility. Programmers, on the other hand, reveal their personal qualities much less frequently (or they are not so obvious). Perhaps the most interesting thing they hide in professional skills - we will approach them in the next post.
