“Frost-bitten” computer and useful “Hryuker”: what will surprise NeoQUEST-2014

Less than a week remains to NeoQUEST-2014, and we will once again highlight the key aspects of the event, for which all those interested in information security should visit us! Especially since our list of reports has been expanded.
Recall that NeoQUEST will be held in St. Petersburg, and the entrance for all registered on the site is free!

From key events NeoQUEST:

1. Cold-boot attack . First, the speaker will talk about what TPM is, learn how to use TPM version 1.2 and AES-NI, talk about Intel TXT, and all this with examples of the source of real open source projects. "On the fingers" will be told how BitLocker works, how it uses TPM. And then - a demonstration of hacking BitLocker'a cold start . Someone from the audience can even help us in organizing the attack! Under the cut - a small video with our experiment with liquid nitrogen "in working conditions".

2. "Unhelpful PC Speaker" . Have you used a device such as PC Speaker (or, simply, “Khryuker”)? Sure that a long time. And we found a useful and non-trivial use for it, and we’ll tell you about it. In various ways, we will encode data using PC Speaker and transfer them from one computer to another, both over the wire and over the air.

3. Escape room, hacker edition : did you ever dreamed of feeling like a spy cracker who skillfully avoided all the technical traps set up by vigilant guards on the way to the goal? If yes, you are definitely here! Attentiveness, ingenuity and technical skills will help to get out of the room, and the one who does it the fastest of all is waiting for a prize!

4. Hackquest for online tour winners . Let's not forget about our best participants NeoQUEST-2014: they will start fighting for the main prize (a trip to an international information security conference) and save the world (stop the rocket) an hour earlier than the NeoQUEST reports start. Guys are waiting for tasks from the field of mobile security, web security and competitive intelligence, "hardware" and not only. For all participants in the quest, we prepared prizes, however, as well as for the guests of NeoQUEST, who will be able to express themselves virtually, in the “Examination of Information Security”, and in real time mode.

5. Competitions . In between presentations, guests will be entertained by the charismatic Dmitry Kuzenyatkin (pictured), always able to surprise and cheer. Together with Dmitry, the NeoQUEST team came up with many different contests, and not all of them are directly related to information security. Some of them will not allow guests to forget about what heroic members of the hackquest save us from!


In addition to all of the above, guests of the event are waiting for: mesh networks, L4, anonymous networks I2P and Tor, a report on the insecurity of smartphone synchronization via USB, cyber threat of software components of cars, and much more!
