Meet TYPO4!
The CMS TYPO3 core development team made a difficult but necessary decision to change the version numbering and the name of the product itself. Now TYPO3 will be called TYPO4, with the numbering of versions starting with 1.0, since the current version is fairly stable.
Thus, the existing and new versions will be called TYPO4 1.0 (TYPO3 4.0), TYPO4 2.0 (TYPO3 4.1) and TYPO4 3.0 (TYPO3 4.2).

The necessary patches have been developed and posted in the bugtracker.
All developers are advised to update their extensions, since the changes also affected the source code of the libraries. For example, t3lib is renamed to t4lib.
