How we collected Roboogolov

image

We live in an amazing time, 10 years ago, robotics was something fantastically inaccessible. Now, on the basis of Arduino, a set of servo-engines, laser cutting and 3D printing, you can make various projects - and this will be quite affordable in terms of finance and skills (the student can collect).

An example of one of these projects is - Roboholova .
')
This project was found among kickstarter projects. The advantage is that the developers posted all the assembly instructions in OpenSource.

To create will require:

Let's start.

Laser cutting

The first stage is laser cutting of parts for building the case (thanks to the company mavi.su ), 3mm plywood was used:

3d print

3D printing is used for making eyes, and the mechanism for turning the eyes.

We printed it in hackspace on our 3D printer (thanks to Semen ):

Electronics

Arduino (Chinese equivalent), a dozen servo motors, and a shield board for connecting the servo to the Arduino were purchased.

Fixing elements

In Yekaterinburg, there is a wonderful shop - Krepika, where all the necessary fasteners were found.

Instruments

We have enough tools for assembling in the hackspace (thanks to spiritus_sancti ):

Assembly

The assembly was supervised by Oleg ( Vertebral ), and recent schoolchildren, graduates of the Ural Computer School, Alexander and Ilya, volunteered to collect, so they are behind the assembly process:

Here are the steps of the Robohead assembly:

And now - 90% readiness:

The head is alive

November 7, 2013 Roboholova came to life, and studied the world around us:

activity

One of the reasons why I wanted to put together this Robogolov is that it can be a good example of DIY robotics. And of course, we took Roboholov to various events where our hackspace took part.

Discover ICT
In November 2013, Roboholova was already at the exhibition of information technologies Discover ICT at the Expo Center of Yekaterinburg.

DUMP-IT
March 2014, Roboholova learned to speak - an invitation to the conference of IT developers DUMP:

Robheads

We were approached by several people who were interested in Roboholov, and then we got some conveyor:

Price

I think an interesting question for many - how much will it all cost? If you try, then at the cost of components - you can keep around 5-7 tr.

Do it yourself

All drawings and instructions for assembly are posted on the official page . For production - I recommend to find a fab lab, TsMIT or hackspace in your city - they have equipment and enthusiasts who will help with the assembly.

If there is no hackspace in your city, or you want to save time on manufacturing (cutting, 3D printing), searching, purchasing, checking all components, and you want to get a ready-made KIT for self-assembly, you can order it in our online store .

Watch live

You can see Roboholov itself in our hackspace in Yekaterinburg .

Also, from July 9 to July 12, Roboholova will be present (together with participants of the hackspace, 3D printers and mobile robots) at the stand of our hackspace at the Innoprom-2014 exhibition.

How to find us at Innoprome 2014 (Pavilion №1, 1F3.3):

We will be glad to see you. And by the way, in Pavilion 3, the stand of Russian Robotics will be presented.
