UN: Do not register on sites

Often register on sites - often at risk of protecting personal information, warns the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a member of the UN system. In their report on the state of the Internet in 2006, ITU representatives noted with dismay that people who create login passwords on multiple sites often use the same sequence of characters. And if the characters are repeated, the risk of theft of personal information by attackers increases.

As reported by the Air Force , criminals are becoming more inventive. For example, in the UK alone, according to statistics from the authorities, they damage every year 1.7 billion pounds sterling (about $ 3.4 billion). In addition, the ITU noted, the process of creating and entering usernames and passwords creates a lot of inconvenience and takes a lot of time. Union urges Internet users to find other ways to identify people on websites. He also argues that the risk of identity theft can frighten off customers and lead to a slowdown in the growth of Internet commerce.
