Top free monospaced cyrillic fonts

In 2011, a good article “ The Best Fonts for Programming ” was translated. A list of the most successful fonts for the code as of June 2014 is now presented.
Although I am sure that many are satisfied with Courier New, which is used by default in Windows in many editors. But, as a person who loves typography, I insist on paying attention to one of the headsets from this article. A good font is great!

Headset fonts will be judged by the quality of the Cyrillic alphabet and the beauty of all other characters used during the writing of the code. The demo used the Brackets editor. Importantly, the images in the article can not reflect the real feelings of the use of the font in your editor. Therefore, it is better to try several options and choose the appropriate one.

PT Mono

Developed in Russia with the support of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation. On the developers site you can find a more detailed description.
It has very high quality Cyrillic. But otherwise it has several drawbacks. The “minus” symbol is below the “plus” symbol, and is not centered relative to the “equal” sign, i.e., “- =” will not look nice. All brackets are low, although this approach can be traced in many fonts.

Droid sans mono

The Droid family is developed by a good mobile corporation. Available in Google Fonts , but this version has a major drawback - the non-crossed zero. The version with a strikethrough, as well as a zero with a dot, can be downloaded from a third-party site .
Differs in quite tolerable Cyrillic. Good for any code. I have been using it for several years now. However, the font still has some minor drawbacks.

DejaVu Sans Mono

He has a wiki , from there you can download it .
It has a bad Cyrillic (but sometimes worse). It has no bright cons for the rest. But there is also nothing to stand out.

Cousine

Headset from the author of Droid Sans, designed for developers. You can download from Google Fonts .
Cyrillic at the level of DejaVu. The rest is nice and readable.

Ubuntu mono

Included in the line of branded fonts Ubuntu . These fonts are said to be consistent with the tone of everything Canonical does.
Cyrillic average. For the code is also suitable medium. Maybe Ubuntu lovers will like it? But It is worth noting that the font is very elegant.

Fira mono

Mozilla has developed the Fira font family for use in Firefox OS. On Habré there is an overview of the headset.
The Cyrillic is at a fairly good level, but it will not be too much to please the eye of the sophisticated viewer. For code fits well.

Inconsolata

Designed specifically for writing code. According to the developer, it is well suited for both screens and high-density printing. There is a project on Github that complements the headset with Cyrillic.
Cyrillic performed at the middle level. Some consider Inconsolata to be the best free font for code, but I would argue. Do not like vertical glyphs and "dogs."

PS Magic archive with all presented fonts on Yandex Disk or Google Docs .
PPS A relatively easy way to determine the quality of Cyrillic in a font .
