3G licenses can be obtained not only by communications operators

According to the Deputy Minister of Communications of the Russian Federation, Boris Antonyuk, investors who are not engaged in the provision of communication services can take part in the competition for 3G licenses. If the winner is such an investor, he will receive a license for both 3G and the frequencies necessary to provide communication. Antonyuk made this statement at the World Communications Exhibition in Hong Kong, Prime-TASS reports.

Operators providing fixed-line services can also become participants in the competition for 3G licenses. In this case, the main criterion for determining the winner will be the compliance of the applicant's application with the basic conditions of the competition. According to Antonyuk, three 3G licenses will be put up for the competition in three frequency bands. Recall, according to the promise of Leonid Reiman, the head of the Ministry of Communications, the competition will be announced before the end of the year.
