The volume of the global information technology market in 2005 for the first time exceeded $ 3 trillion, Prime-TASS reported, citing data from the Internet Report of the International Telecommunication Union (part of the UN system). More specifically, the report refers to an amount of $ 3 trillion 130 billion. Compared to the previous year, the volume of IT production increased by about 7% and amounted to about 7.6 global GDP. The document says that the indicators are growing, despite the general decline in world prices for mobile phones and computer programs. This is despite the fact that software and mobile devices account for about 71% of the entire IT market.
Published data from the UN Conference on Trade and Development also indicate a significant increase in the number of Internet users and mobile phones in the world. At the end of 2005, more than a billion people already had access to the global network, and the number of mobile users increased by 23.5%, reaching 2.17 billion people (every third person on the planet has a mobile phone).
