CAELinux: Linux distribution for engineers

image

On Habré, the CAELinux distribution was practically not written (mentioned only once), and in vain. This is a specialized distribution for engineers, with a large number of pre-installed software for various technical tasks.

At the same time, CAELinux has not been updated for a long time, more than two years, and, finally, CAELinux 2013 was released (apparently, the developers planned to release an updated distribution kit a little earlier). Now the new stable release of Computer Aided Engineering (or CAE) is available for download.

It is worth noting that CAELinux is based on the 64-bit version of Xubuntu 12.04 LTS (which, in turn, is a derivative of Ubuntu). Among the software presented along with the distribution, there are CAD programs, various 3D-tools for analyzing hydrodynamics, 3D-tools for working with signals and their analysis. There are tools for mathematical modeling, working with 3D animation and everything else.

The software is divided into sections, among which it is worth to highlight the electronics section. There are applications that allow working with Arduino, designing printed circuit boards, using 3D printing (PyCAM, Dxf2Gcode and GcodeTools, LibreCAD, SagCAD, FreeCAD and OpenSCAD).

It is also worth highlighting the following software:
