Our project is from the field of the Internet of Things (Internet of Things), more precisely from the field of connected devices (Connected Devices). Command Spot is a service for active Internet users that allows you to manage connected devices from anywhere in the world.
The service is built on the Microsoft Azure platform.
We plan to integrate many smart devices into our service and manage them from one application. We started with the integration of a smart outlet, details here .
To begin with, we will look at what potentially can be connected in the near future, and will carry out a conditional classification. Here we do not consider wearable devices, all sorts of robots, DIY sets, as well as design concepts. If something important is not included, send, correct.

Petnet SmartFeeder is a remote-controlled pet feeder. This device allows you to give out food to cats and dogs in portions, both automatically and manually, remotely from anywhere.
The project began a fundraiser called Pintofeed at the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform in November 2012 and collected a little more than the announced 50 thousand dollars in a month. Then pre-orders, but without prepayment, moved to the company's own website. Initially, the delivery of devices was assumed in June 2013, now in the second quarter of 2014. The feeder is designed for dry food and will be available in two sizes, depending on the volume of the feed container and in three colors. The manufacturer on its website draws attention to the fact that the pet's health depends on the owner, or rather on proper nutrition - the mode of eating and its quantity. In addition, due to the correct dosing of the owner can save their money.
The device connects to your home Wi-Fi network. The feeder is controlled from a special application from a computer or mobile device on different platforms. The application provides consumption statistics in calories, recommendations for nutrition and portions, customizable notifications and reminders.
Feed and Go Feeder - automatic feeder for cats and dogs. The device provides the ability to feed your pets, even being very far from them, controlling from a computer or mobile device manually or setting a schedule. You can manage multiple devices from one account. The app is free and available for both iPhone and Android devices.
The feeder consists of 6 separate trays for dry and wet food with sealed lids. Also, a video camera is built into the device for additional control and a sound recording / playback system (a message lasting up to 6 seconds) in order to call the pet to the feeder with a familiar voice. The device connects to your home Wi-Fi network.
After pre-setting, notifications can be sent to your personal devices via email, SMS, Facebook or Twitter before and during feeding. The service provides a calculator for the calculation of portions of dog food.
Previously it was possible to make a preliminary order for 159.20 dollars on the company's website; now the retail price is 199.95 dollars. In the same place it is proposed to save on the price if you buy 2 or 4 devices at once. There is also an option to purchase in installments. Orders are being accepted with delivery in June 2014.
PetChatz is a kind of videophone for communication with pets. The device allows you to see, hear, talk to a dog or cat from anywhere. The body of the videophone is made of durable material, the edges are rounded, there are no wires outside.
Installation of the device is carried out on the wall in an electrical outlet, which should be at the level of the pet's eyes. It then connects to your home Wi-Fi network. The device is controlled remotely from a computer through the service site or through an application for a tablet or smartphone.
Of the additional features are present: the aromatization of the air with soothing flavors (a set of flavors included), feeding the pet with his favorite delicacy (packing delicacies included). In addition, the device is equipped with motion sensors and sound and can turn on automatically when the pet is nearby. PetChatz's temporary wall mounts allow it to be used in veterinary clinics, nurseries and hotels.

Petcube - a device that allows you to communicate at a distance and play with pets.
The device is an aluminum cube with a rib length of 4 inches (10 centimeters). One of the faces of the cube is made of tinted glass. Parrot 's FlowerPower is a device for plants from France that will not let you forget about watering. In general, the company Parrot develops and sells consumer goods for smartphones and tablets, as well as high-tech solutions for the automotive market and the market for unmanned aerial vehicles.
The device is simply stuck into the soil next to the plant and is intended for use both indoors and outdoors. It is essentially a set of sensors. Structurally, FlowerPower consists of an underground part in which a dielectric humidity sensor is installed, a sensor for monitoring the ionic composition of the soil to monitor fertilizers, and one of the thermistors measuring the temperature of the soil; and the aboveground part, in which a second thermistor is installed, measuring the air temperature, a sunlight sensor, a Bluetooth LE communication module and an AAA battery (for about 6 months of operation). The aboveground part is available in three colors to choose from: blue, brown and green-gray.
For interaction, you need to install the application on iOS or Android-smartphone, which contains a library of more than 7000 plants with detailed descriptions, photos, tables and instructions for care. The application in real time builds graphs characterizing the health of the plant, issues recommendations about what the plant needs at the moment and provides a forecast for the coming days.

Lono - the controller for sprinklers (sprinklers of the irrigation system).
The device is a control unit in a small package with an LED display. It is allowed to use the device only indoors. The Lono scheme is based on the ATmega328 microprocessor, there are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth modules, a backup battery and slots for connecting separate irrigation zones.
The first synchronization of the smartphone and the device occurs automatically, but after that a password is required to enter and authorize another phone. Management is carried out both from a mobile application and using a web application.
The device is programmed for 20 irrigation zones, if more zones need to be programmed, the manufacturer advises to purchase several Lono devices that can be managed from one account. Watering is carried out both according to the schedule and in manual mode, including remotely. The system may take into account the local weather forecast and postpone watering, but this feature may be disabled. Canary is a multifunctional device. Inside the case of an unusual shape, a high-quality video camera with a wide-angle lens and a night-vision function is installed, with which you can carry out remote monitoring at any time, as well as a siren and sensors that can track movement, temperature, humidity, atmospheric air quality, vibrations and sounds. These parameters are recorded, statistics are kept, and in case of detection of something unusual, the device gives an alarm signal. At the same time, the device is comparable in size to a half-liter plastic bottle.

Mother is a programmable device that turns all ordinary objects into smart ones. The device looks like a white plastic nesting doll (or, as we can see in an English-language press, a Russian Doll) with LEDs at the place of the eyes and mouth. Mother was represented at CES 2014 in Las Vegas and enjoyed success with journalists.
The creators of the device called it that because the device, like the mother, takes care of you. You decide what aspects of life it controls, and it is customized to your needs. How does this happen? Mother is the head of a family of multi-purpose autonomous sensors that connect and determine movement, temperature, and more. The sensors are called cookies, which means cookies, but for obvious reasons, they are usually not translated. For example, if you attached a sensor to the door of the first-aid kit, but one day you forgot to open the door to take medicine, the device will remind you until you remember - just like your own mother. And this is just one example of the 12 uses that the company has prepared.
Some technical details. The parent unit is connected to the home router with a cable. Communication between the unit and the sensors is carried out on a proprietary radio standard at different frequencies for North America and Europe. Up to 24 sensors can be connected to one unit, one sensor can be connected to only one unit. The sensors operate on a replaceable CR2016 battery for about a year. If the connection to the parent unit is lost, the sensor remembers the information for 10 days and later transmits data when the connection is restored.
Device management is carried out using a downloadable smartphone application that is available for iOS and Android. Lockitron is a smart door lock. Using the phone you can very easily open the lock from anywhere in the world.
Lockitron looks like a regular invoice box mortise lock on the inside of the door. The device is installed on an existing door lock using a cross-head screwdriver (supplied), provided that the lock and the device are mechanically compatible. The device operates on four batteries for about a year and notifies itself of the need to replace them.
The device is connected to the home Wi-Fi network, and a special application is downloaded on the Android or iOS phone. Using this application, you can send electronic keys and control who is currently opening the door. If you have an iPhone 4S or newer, you can configure Lockitron so that it will work from your approximation alone, having received a command via Bluetooth 4.0. And if your smartphone supports NFC technology, then you can open the lock by attaching the smartphone to the lock. And, of course, in extreme cases, the lock can be opened with a regular key. At the same time, for opening via Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC, Wi-Fi is not needed, and the key can be opened even when the batteries are drained.
All Lockitron traffic goes over HTTPS. The device uses the same security protocols that are used in online banking. If you lose your phone, access can be easily blocked via the web interface.
The manufacturer provides the API (inside Lockitron - the familiar Arduino-compatible ATMega microcontroller), so that for advanced users there is an opportunity to slightly modify the gadget.
The project was rejected by the Kickstarter site as unformatted. However, the founders of Lockitron already knew about the success of the project App.netwho organized a fundraising on his website, and opened a crowdfunding company themselves. The company was very successful, at the time of writing the post 14,704 people have reserved devices worth a total of 2,278,891 dollars. Kevo is the smart lock of the new generation. Kwikset has been involved in security issues for over 60 years and believes that better security is smart security.

To work, you need to install on your smartphone a special free application that runs in the background and does not require opening to pass. The lock is unlocked by the unique encrypted electronic key eKey. You can send eKey to any person, to any place and at any time. The key has no expiration date and it can be reassigned from one person to another. You can also temporarily disable the key or completely remove the user from the system. Has the nanny changed? Have the repairman changed? Need to find a new flatmate? Now this is not a problem. Worth mentioningthat all actions performed are available for viewing in the system log.
Also, unlocking can be made using a key fob. One keychain is included and does not require additional installation. You can also purchase charms separately. Well, in extreme cases, there is the usual mechanical key.
Currently, Kevo is guaranteed to be compatible only with Apple iPhone 4s, 5, 5c, 5s. The company promises full compatibility with other smartphones a bit later.
The device is a mechanical lock with electronic filling. The mechanical part of the lock is made using the patented SmartKey technology with enhanced security. The electronic part uses military grade PKI encryption. The external block of the lock is available in three color options: brushed nickel, polished brass, Venetian bronze.
Kevo lock runs on 4 AA batteries, and a Kevo key fob runs on a single CR2025 battery. Depending on the use, the batteries should last for a year before they need to be replaced.
Previously, Kevo could be ordered online for $ 219, now the company refers to retailers, including Amazon and the Apple Store, the price is almost the same. With each lock comes two free eKey.
August smart lock is a safe and simple smart lock for home, as the manufacturer describes the device, with which you can control who can enter and who cannot, without any keys and codes, and do it from your smartphone or computer.
Of course, cryptotechnology is in principle safer than a physical key or a common code for a combination lock. At the same time, you control access around the clock, and you can set it up only for a couple of hours for plumbing or only for lunchtime every day for cleaning. And you can always see the log of visits. If you suddenly lost your smartphone, you can go to the company's website and remove access rights for this device. It is clear that in this case it is not necessary to change the lock (larva), as with the loss of real keys.
The device will join the existing castle, so it can be used even in temporarily rented premises. It replaces the inside of the lock, so it does not change the appearance of the door from the outside and is installed in about 10 minutes. The device is made of durable anodized aluminum in four colors: red, black, silver, bronze. LEDs reflect the current state of the device.
The smartphone and the lock are contacted via Bluetooth 4.0. The lock does not depend on the power supply, the device can work up to a year on 4 AA batteries, the discharge of which will be notified. Okidokeys is an intelligent lock. The parent company of this project, the OpenWays Group, has succeeded in supplying smart locks for hotels. The company uses 256-bit AES encryption in these locks. This technology is also used in Okidokeys home locks, which are controlled from a smartphone on Android or iOS via Bluetooth 4.0.
In addition, the lock can be unlocked using an RFID tag, which can be placed on a map, in a bracelet or keyring. And finally, the door can be opened remotely from your smartphone. Philips Hue - personal wireless lighting, as characterized by its product manufacturer, the global giant Philips. Or the system, the main part of which are smart lamps.
In general, the system consists of controlled LED lamps and a communication device or bridge. The bridge connects to the LAN port on a regular router and communicates with lamps, each of which has an integrated ZigBee wireless communication module. Up to 50 lamps can be connected to the system. If you need more, then you just need to attend to the acquisition of another bridge. All lamps can be controlled remotely from anywhere via the Internet using an iOS or Android application. Each BR30 lamp provides power of 600 lumens (corresponds to a 50 W lamp, the maximum power consumed at the same time is 8.5 W, the stated resource is 15,000 hours) and uses 80% less energy than a conventional lamp.

The project team boldly declares that it has reinvented the lighting lamp. ilumi is the smartest lamp in the world, as the manufacturer describes the device, is a color LED lamp controlled from a simple mobile application.

Nest is a new generation thermostat or a learning thermostat, one of the projects of Nest Lab. The project was founded by people from Apple, Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers. The Google giant recently acquired this project at an impressive price of $ 3.2 billion.
