DevCon 2014: how it was (+ a lot of photos)

At the end of May, DevCon 2014 conference was held in one of the natural resorts of the Moscow region, which gathered more than 900 software developers and testers on-site and more than 40,000 viewers online.



DevCon conference has been held for the fourth year in a row, each time offering a unique country participation format - all conference participants drop into a country holiday home and live there for two days of the conference, receiving all the pleasant advantages of a resort location.

This year DevCon 2014 offered participants the following format:


A special feature of DevCon 2014 was its international status: the English version of the site was launched, a special track of reports in English was organized, experts from Microsoft’s development teams and from the community were invited, the English-language conference program was organized at many venues for an international audience, and recordings after a while will be available on Channel9.com .

In the tent one could get acquainted with a variety of technologies: from Oculus Rift, 3D printer, tablets and phones on Windows / WP and Xbox One to Visual Studio, Microsoft Azure and Internet Explorer.

One of the zones of the guest house was a photo-zone in which one could take a picture with friends against the background of the familiar room of one of the series or with the famous voice of this series - Denis “Courage-Bombay” Kolesnikov.

In the center of the tent - the guest house Microsoft - there was a fountain, next to it there were comfortable seating areas, the tent was popular with visitors and was full in the intervals between reports.

This time, the plenary report included 10 live demonstrations of a wide variety of technologies, products and services, including Oculus Rift, Xbox One, Azure, Visual Studio, simultaneous development for all platforms with Xamarin, mobile web, and so on ...

During the breaks between the presentations, during the big break for lunch, participants could relax, sit on the Internet or walk around the beautiful place of the conference, talk with colleagues and meet other participants.

In the evening, after the completion of the main program of the first day of the conference, participants traditionally had a chance to relax in nature, listen to the group’s performance, take part in various games, such as the traditional game “who will throw the keyboard further”.

When it got dark the participants were offered a place in front of a bonfire, where some people played the guitar.

The second day of the conference began with a warm-up, where anyone could do the exercises.

On the second day it was a bit rainy. By the way, I did not tell that the conference participants were given memorable backpacks, which many liked very much :-).
