The All-Russian Robot Olympiad is a qualifying stage of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) of the World Robotics Olympiad and in 2014 will be held for the first time outside Moscow . The Olympiad will be held with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media, the Ministry of Information and Communication of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Association of Educational Robotics and the Institute of New Technologies.

More than 250 teams from 35 regions of the Russian Federation have already registered on the site of the All-Russian stage of the WRO . It is planned that about 1 thousand robotics from 6 to 20 years old from all over Russia will take part in the competition. The winners of the main and creative nomination will form the national team, which will represent Russia at the World Olympiad, which will be held in November 2014 in Sochi.
About competitions
For the main category, the task is to assemble and program a robot that will have to perform a certain task; The dimensions of the robot are standardly limited: 25x25x25 cm. Participants in the creative category are preparing a project on the themes “Robots and space” or “Robots and wildlife”.
To participate in the category of football, the team must prepare two independently operating robots: the attacker and the goalkeeper, who will fight with the enemy robots on a special field, using a special ball with infrared radiation.
The World Robotics Olympiad dates back to 2004, when teams of schoolchildren from all over the world met in Singapore to demonstrate their skills in the areas of designing and programming mobile robots. Since then, the Olympiad has been held every year, and at the end of 2013, 18,450 teams from 40 countries were registered in the Olympiad movement.
